Jamie Baulch,Olympic Silver medallist and former world indoor 400 metre champion successfully completed the Three Peaks Challenge with Mountain and Glen over the weekend despite the less than favourable mountain weather!
After successfully scaling Ben Nevis, Jamie and his team headed down to the Lakes to tackle Scafell Pike, which was a whole different prospect in darkness. The weather deteriorated on the descent but Jamie was in good spirits on reaching the support team waiting on Wasdale green. Three bacon rolls and two cups of tea later he headed down to his native Wales to climb Snowdon.
Conditions were pretty difficult on the mountain with rain being whipped horizontally by 50 mph winds on the summit, but the whole team made it safely to the finish with a Challenge time of 23 hours and 54 minutes!
Fortunately the Vaynol Arms at Nant Peris had laid on a warm welcome for everyone and their hospitality soon had the whole team talking about their next challenge.
Jamie received a coveted Anthony Nolan Trust medal to add to his Olympic silver which we're sure will go straight into his trophy cabinet back home!
Thanks to everyone who participated over the weekend and made this one such a superb event.
